Stained Glass Corner Pieces

Looking for a way to add color to a room without filling up a window or blocking light? Stained glass corners can be hung in doorways, window corners, or halls. I chose morning glories as my subject for these corner pieces. For the flowers and blue background I used Kokomo cathedral glass, and for the leaves and vines I used antique glass my father purchased over 20 years ago. You can purchase these here:

Painted Stained Glass Honey Bee - July 2012

Painted Kiln Fired Stained Glass Honey Bee - Made July 2012
I used two different kinds of yellow or gold transparent glass for the honeycomb.
The bee is hand painted and fired in a kiln at 1300 degrees. The firing process makes the painted details fuse with the glass and become one. This technique is seen in medieval stained glass. (as shown below) The glass paint that I use contains lead and is very similar in recipe to what artists used from the 10th century to the 16th century.
For the wings I used frosted glass that I recycled from a glass pane that was in a kitchen cabinet. I love finding pieces of glass that I can reuse and turn into new art.
